The Mirror Mama Project
The Mirror Mama Project is a collaborative project between Delicia Sampero six Pacific Mamas and four Refugee Mamas from Africa and the Middle East.
The Mirror Mama Project profiles the face of the immigrant mother and grandmother and traces their cultural trail from place of origin to New Zealand, highlighting their presence and the work they do in the community.

The road-sign-birds point to the spiritual and physical connection of (rural and urban) spaces with their legged and winged inhabitants.
The Birdpeople are visiting different sites in Aotearoa as environmental beacons, drawing attention to the context they appear in by
their presence and stimulating discourse. QR codes link them to video documentations of their journey on the internet.
The title “Conference of the Birds “ references the 1000 year old poem by Persian Poet Attar, where a group of birds set out on a journey to find their legendary leader, referred to as Simorgh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Conference_of_the_Birds
In the poem, each bird represents a fault of man. Many drop out of the journey. Some finally arrive at the place of prophecy, but instead of a king they find a lake, where they see their own reflection and each other…

consisting of a 7000 x 4000 cm game-board and 3 large, reflective dice, made from road- signs. The audience become the players, playing with ideas relating to transport and renewable energy.
